COMPUTER METHODS IN POPULATION CENSUS-DATA PROCESSING

The paper summarises the findings of an international survey of census processing methods used in the 1990 round. Extensive use is made of c omputers, although the technologies involved vary considerably from co untry to country. There is more extensive discussion of the use made o f computer-assisted and automatic coding, non-keyboard data entry meth ods and the establishment of population databases.
