Abstract
We have studied the effect of a steady magnetic field on formation of primary radiolysis products (trapped charges, radical ions, and macror adicals) and on their reactions, and also the effect of a magnetic fie ld on the physicochemical characteristics of irradiated polymers. We h ave observed an increase in the concentration of intermediate active p articles and enhancement of radiation-induced cross-linking processes in some polymers. In all the investigated polymers, the action of the magnetic field enhances radiochemical processes, i. e., it is a destab ilizing factor.
