to bring out once again the (symbolic) masculine violence that occurs
whenever the men's social political status is denounced by women in ge
neral and feminists in particular. A detailed analysis of the facts en
ables us to describe certain mechanisms of masculine domination and of
its legitimizing rhetoric. Ths is underlined the permanence of two pa
triarchal classes, which cannot be brought even slightly into question
without provoking a stiff response from the dominant class.
