Abstract
Recent development of Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is briefly reviewe d and the subjects to be overcome in MIM process (mixing, injection, d ebinding, and sintering) are pointed out. In the injection molding of metal powders some liquid is often added to the powders in order to in crease fluidity of injection material. This solid particle-liquid mixe d medium is supposed to have a unique property for pressure transmissi on behavior, in which the Pascal's principle may not be applied. In th is paper formulae of the vertical and horizontal pressure distribution s for solid-liquid two phase medium are derived. The present formulae are reduced to the Janssen's formulae when the injection material cont ains solid particles only and,predict the well known pressure distribu tion of water when the material contains no solid particles. The prese nt model predicts a variety of pressure distribution patterns dependin g on parameters set.
