IMPROVEMENT OF AN EMPIRICAL-EQUATION RELATING ASH AND CARBON CONTENTSOF MUNICIPAL SOLID-WASTE

A previously used formula that expressed a relationship between carbon and ash contents of municipal solid waste was revised using data of w aste composition analysis in the city of Chiang Mai, Thailand. The new equation correlating carbon and ash contents was developed taking acc ount of dry basis physical composition of plastics, leather and rubber in municipal solid waste. This equation predicted dry basis carbon of municipal solid waste within 10% error when experimental values of dr y basis ash and physical composition of plastics, leather and rubber w ere given.
