Abstract
Transport studies on double-layer two-dimensional electron systems in GaAs double quantum wells have revealed quantum Hall states at total f illing fraction nu = 1/2 and nu = 1. We conclude that these states ari se from interlayer Coulomb correlations, based on studies of samples w ith different densities and layer separations and experiments utilizin g tilted magnetic fields.
