M. Zorzi et S. Pupolin, OUTAGE PROBABILITY IN MOBILE PACKET RADIO NETWORKS WITH INTERFERERS DISTRIBUTED ALONG A STRAIGHT-LINE, European transactions on telecommunications and related technologies, 5(1), 1994, pp. 69-76
The performance evaluation of a packet radio mobile communications sys
tem, in terms of outage probability, is considered. The mobiles are ass
umed to be located along an indefinitely long straight line, according
to a Poisson point process. The analysis applies to different cellula
r structures, and allows comparisons among them, in which bandwidth co
nstraints are also taken into account. The choice of intensively reusi
ng the whole frequency band turns out to be more efficient than provid
ing a large separation between cochannel cells. A real-world example s
hows that cellular systems of this sort can achieve satisfactory perfo
rmance as well as considerable capacity.
