A FRAMEWORK FOR THE INTEGRATION OF EXPERT-SYSTEMS WITH MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES

Expert system (ES) technology allows the capture and replication of ex pertise in an application domain. So far, the type of data that is use d by an expert system for its reasoning process remains primarily alph anumeric. Image, graphics, and other dynamic data such as voice and vi deo are part of an emerging technology generally termed multimedia tec hnology. This article highlights the critical issues in building a suc cessful application combining the two technologies. Based on these cri tical issues, it also provides a framework for the integration of mult imedia technology with expert systems technology.
