Kl. Raheja, COMPARATIVE-EVALUATION OF FRIESIAN-SAHIWAL AND FRIESIAN-HARIANA HALFBREDS AT DIFFERENT MILITARY FARMS, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 64(4), 1994, pp. 373-377
Data consisting of first lactation and lifetime performance records of
1380 Friesian-Sahiwal (FS) and 690 Friesian-Hariana (FH) halfbreds ma
intained at 6 military dairy farms were analysed, FS halfbreds yielded
271 kg more milk in first lactation than FH halfbreds at Agra, wherea
s FS halfbreds produced 175 kg less milk than FH halfbreds at Lucknow.
First lactation profit was negative in both genetic groups. FS gave m
ore loss in first lactation than FH halfbreds at Ambala, whereas FH ha
lfbreds gave more loss at Bareilly and Jhansi. The first calving inter
val was longer in FS halfbreds al Bareilly and Meerut. FS halfbreds co
mpleted more lactations than FH halfbreds at Bareilly, Jhansi and Meer
ut. FS had longer herd life than FH halfbreds at Agra, Bareilly, Jhans
i and Meerut. The FS halfbreds yielded more milk during life time than
FH halfbreds at Agra, Bareilly, Jhansi and Meerut. FH produced more m
ilk than FS at Lucknow. FS halfbreds yielded more profit in life than
FH halfbreds at all farms except Lucknow. The performance of the two g
enetic groups differed at different farms.
