Abstract
The Kjeldahl determination of nitrogen is still one of the most common determinations in science. Despite the remarkable simplicity of Kjeld ahl's discovery, few workers have understood its principles and taken full advantage of these principles to effect improvements. The evoluti on of the method and toxicity problems are discussed. The current stat us of automated methods and microwave digestion is considered. Some pr edictions about future directions are made.
