Gj. Mao et al., MEDIUM EFFECTS ON THE DOUBLE-DELTA PRODUCTION AND ABSORPTION CROSS-SECTION, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 55(2), 1997, pp. 792-800
The explicit expressions for calculating the in-medium N+N-->Delta+Del
ta and Delta+Delta-->N+N cross section have been derived within the fr
amework of the self-consistent relativistic Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbec
k approach in which the deltas and nucleons are treated on an equal fo
oting. The obtained cross sections are consistent with the other integ
rands of the transport model. The theoretical prediction of the free d
ouble-Delta production cross section is in good agreement with the exp
erimental data. All the medium effects on the double-Delta production
and absorption cross section are studied systematically, and strong me
dium corrections are found. Our numerical results show that it would b
e important to take the N+N-->Delta+Delta and Delta+Delta-->N+N channe
l into account in the study of relativistic heavy-ion collisions at in
termediate and high energies.
