Abstract
Under certain illumination regimes green light stimulates spore format ion in Blakeslea trispora, especially in the (+) strain. Sporangiospor es formed under green light illumination are distinguished by a higher content of lipids, their composition, and degree of nonsaturation, i. e., they contain less triacylglycerols and more sterols and free fatty acids. Lipid composition of sporangiospores characteristic of heterot hallic fungus strains as well as the interrelation between the composi tion of cell membrane lipids and the intensity of beta-carotene synthe sis are discussed.
