Abstract
Carbohydrate components of cells of various species of sporobolomycete s were studied. Soluble polysaccharides of cell walls were mixtures of glycans consisting of mannose, glucose, galactose, and fucose, and in the case of Sporobolomyces albo-rubescens, of glucuronic acid as well . Ratios of monosaccharides varied significantly for various species o f yeasts; for some species individual glucomannans were isolated. The insoluble (structural) component of cell walls was the same for all cu ltures studied. It was glucomannan with the ratio of glucose to mannos e close to 1:2.
