Abstract
The vibrational relaxation of optically excited O2- centers in KCl and NaCl has been investigated by studying the optical gain following pic osecond pulse excitation using a pump-probe technique. The rates for n onradiative transitions between vibrational levels were estimated to b e of the order of 3 x 10(11) s-1.
