The calculation of the rate of an electric quadrupole electric quadrup
ole interaction process for the quenching of the near ultraviolet emis
sion in neat Cs2NaTmCl6 is presented. The rate is compared with that c
alculated for magnetic dipole-magnetic dipole interaction and with the
radiative decay rate. The energy migration rate of the 1G4 excitation
in Cs2NaTmCl6 is also calculated and is found to be faster than the l
uminescence quenching rate.
