Abstract
Based on calculated immission concentrations near waste incineration p lants, the fact is shown that inhalation of carcinogenic substances (m etals and PCDD/PCDF) causes only minor additional body burden, and the refore the risk of cancer for the population living near those plants is not significantly increased. Concerning the assessment of health ri sk, highly more attention has to be paid to soil pollution since the o ral intake of relevant pollutants (in food) dominates.
