Mc. Bates et al., INTRAARTERIAL DOPPLER FLOW MEASUREMENTS DURING RENAL-ARTERY ENDOVASCULAR STENT DEPLOYMENT - ABOLITION OF RESTING IMPEDANCE TO BLOOD-FLOW, Journal of interventional cardiology, 7(2), 1994, pp. 199-202
This communication details the first reported case of renal artery int
raarterial pulse wave Doppler obtained prior to, and following primary
stenting of a renal artery stenosis. Doppler wave forms were recorded
proximal, within, and distal to the lesion and reported with the angi
ographic and hemodynamic results. The changes in average and maximal p
eak velocities following stent deployment continued the abolition of t
he resting transstenotic gradient and renal artery stenosis. Intraarte
rial pulsed wave Doppler complements angiography and translesional gra
dient measurements as a physiological marker of a successful procedure
.
