Jl. Xie et al., 1ST LASING OF THE BEIJING FEL, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section A, Accelerators, spectrometers, detectors and associated equipment, 341(1-3), 1994, pp. 34-38
The Beijing FEL is a rf linac based facility designed to work in the I
R spectra range. In this paper, the design consideration and system la
yout are briefly reviewed first, and then various measures adopted to
optimize the electron beam quality to satisfy the lasing requirement a
re described. Spontaneous emission, stored spontaneous emission and la
sing were observed in sequence. The optical spectrum, detuning curve a
nd wavelength shift were measured to confirm first lasing. Further wor
k to be performed is indicated.
