Abstract
We have observed radiation from a waveguide mode free electron laser u
sing coherent synchrotron radiation emitted from electron bunches. The
radiation was observed at 2.73 mm with a line-width of 0.4%. This spe
ctral selection was attributed to the dispersion of the radiation in t
he waveguide. We found that the radiation had to have a group velocity
equal to the velocity of the electrons passing through the wiggler fi
eld.
