We successfully reconstructed the horizontal and vertical beam emittan
ces of a 160 keV low-intensity deuteron ion beam from the Energy Resea
rch Laboratory's low intensity duoplasmatron deuteron ion source. Reco
nstructions were made from horizontal and vertical beam width measurem
ents. These measurements were done using only one quadrupole triplet a
nd a beam profile monitor situated towards the end of the 45-degrees b
eam line of the 350 kV ion accelerator. The deuteron beam emittances w
ere epsilon(h) = 67pi mm-mrad and epsilon(v) = 4pi mm-mrad at 90% of t
he beam.
