Np. Sarvaiya et al., INDUCTION OF ESTRUS IN NORMAL CYCLIC SURTI BUFFALOS, DURING SUPEROVULATION AND AFTER EMBRYO RECOVERY, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 63(12), 1993, pp. 1240-1243
An investigation was undertaken to determine the interval from PGF2-al
pha treatment to oestrus in 3 categories of Surti buffaloes, viz. norm
al cyclic cows (recipients), during superovulation (donors) and after
embryo recovery (flushing). Single i. m. injection of either 25 mg (n=
13) or 35 mg (n=10) PGF2-alpha synchronized the oestrous cycles of 65.
22% buffaloes within 88.00+/-7.99 hr of treatment. Oestrus was induced
earlier (P<0.01) during superovulation (41.71+/-3.27 hr, n=21) as com
pared to normal cyclic buffaloes(88.00+/-7.99hr,n=15) and after embryo
recovery (23.39+/-3.99 days,n=18).There results further indicated tha
t type or brand of gonadotropin used for superovulation or prostagland
in treatment on day of embryo recovery (day 5.5 to day 7.5) or number
of corpora lutea (1 CL or > 2 CL) had little influence on return-to-oe
strus interval after embryo recovery in Surti buffaloes.
