H. Tripathi et On. Kunzru, PRODUCTIVITY OF DAIRY ANIMALS AND EMPLOYMENT GENERATION AMONG RURAL WOMEN, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 63(12), 1993, pp. 1295-1298
The data were collected from 192 rural women owning dairy animals from
12 villages of 2 blocks of Bareilly district. Of these, 6 villages we
re members of a dairy co-operative. The remaining 6 villages were not
members and were treated as control. Significant differences in the pr
oductivity levels of dairy animals as well as employment status of rur
al women were found between member and non-member dairy co-operative s
ystems. Productivity of dairy animals increased with the adoption of a
higher number of dairy farm technologies, proportionately also genera
ting employment for rural women. This finding was supported through co
rrelation analysis where, positive and highly significant relationship
was found between productivity of dairy animals and employment status
of rural women, Significant contribution of productivity of dairy ani
mals on employment status of rural women were also observed.
