Ma. John et Z. Hussain, MULTILOCUS ENZYME ELECTROPHORESIS USING ULTRATHIN POLYACRYLAMIDE GELS, Journal of microbiological methods, 19(4), 1994, pp. 307-313
Multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MEE) using starch gels has been wid
ely used to study bacterial genetics and for epidemiological typing. W
e describe a technique using ultrathin polyacrylamide gel electrophore
sis (PAGE) which gives improved resolution and reproducibility, decrea
sing the number of gels which have to be run. We also describe a techn
ique whereby several enzymes may be developed from a single running ge
l, resulting in significant time savings.
