M. Keck et al., FIRST CHARACTERIZATION OF ERWINIA-AMYLOVORA ISOLATES FROM AUSTRIA ANDFIRE BLIGHT SUSCEPTIBILITY OF SOME APPLE GENOTYPES FROM CENTRAL-EUROPE, Zeitschrift fur Pflanzenkrankheiten und Pflanzenschutz, 104(1), 1997, pp. 17-22
A study of first Erwinia amylovora isolates from Austria showed that s
light differences from standard strains could be observed in the patho
genicity level only: Austria isolates were less aggressive than the st
andard strain CFBP 1430 from France in apple and pear seedling rests.
The evaluation of the susceptibility of 34 apple cultivars and genotyp
es grown in Central Europe showed that most cultivars were highly susc
eptible to fire blight. However, four genotypes among them, with suita
ble features for cider production, were comparable to the two resistan
t standard cvs. 'Robusta 5' and 'Florina'.
