Av. Vershinin et al., THE METHOD OF INVESTIGATION OF CHEMICAL-E XCHANGE ACROSS THE WATER-SEDIMENT INTERFACE IN OPEN SEA-BOTTOM SYSTEM, Okeanologia, 34(1), 1994, pp. 139-145
In addition to the early proposed methods [9, 10] of direct measuremen
ts of the chemical exchange at the boundary between nearbottom water a
nd sea-bed a procedure is considered allowing to estimate the degree o
f the corresponding of the open sedimental system real hydrodynamical
conditions to the mixing conditions inside the boxes. The use of speci
al cylindrical metallic forms filled with hydrohinone placed both unde
r and outside of the boxes, recalculation of the oxygen exchange param
eters for the open system at the water-sediment interface by means of
the quasi-stationary model [3, 7] from a closed system to an open one
are used to show that early described method [10] of mixing inside the
boxes needs the proposed procedure in case of active hydrodynamical c
onditions of the near-bottom waters. Possible improvements of the desc
ribed procedure are discussed.
