P. Coulon et al., OUTCOME OF A CORNEAL GRAFT FROM A DONOR W ITH A HISTORY OF RADIAL KERATOTOMY, Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 17(3), 1994, pp. 204-207
We performed a penetrating keratoplasty with a donnor corneal graft wh
o had been operated by radial keratotomy one year ago. The clinical an
d endothelial cell density follow-up was 18 months. The endothelial ce
ll loss was comparable to that of a non-operated donor graft. No compl
ications such as reopening or vascular invasion of the incisions occur
ed. The authors conclude that radial keratotomy is not a contraindicat
ion for transplantation and suggest the use of such grafts for eyes wi
th bullous keratopathy with a poor functional prognosis.
