A schematic model based on molecular dynamics and a restructured aggre
gation model is presented. We apply it to study the O-16 + Br-80 syste
m at several bombarding energies and compare some of the results to av
ailable emulsion data. We find that the model reproduces the experimen
tal charge distributions rather well and the onset of multifragmentati
on for this system. Some general features of nuclear multifragmentatio
n related to charged-particle production and intermediate-mass-fragmen
ts production are discussed.
