We report the results of experimental determinations of the oscillator
strengths of the GaII lambdalambda4250 - 4262 lines and the estimates
of loggf-values for the Gall lambdalambda5330 - 5422 and lambdalambda
6334 - 6456 lines. The latter were obtained by interpolation and extra
polation of the lifetimes of relevant energy levels. The results of th
eoretical calculations and experimental data are in good agreement. Th
e oscillator strengths obtained by us were checked against observation
al data for the Ga lines in the spectrum of HgMn star kappa Cnc. From
the lines in the visible spectrum of kappa Cnc that do not have notice
able hyperfine structure we derive the mean gallium abundance logGa/H
= -4.27. This value is by five orders of magnitude higher than the sol
ar one, and more than by an order of magnitude higher than the Ga abun
dance in the atmosphere of kappa Cnc derived from the resonance GaII a
nd GaIII lines in the ultraviolet spectrum.
