Abstract
A new strontium uranate with the formal composition Sr2UO4.5 has been found. Its perovskite-type crystal structure has been studied with neu tron diffraction from which it is found that there is a statistical di stribution of Sr and U (2:1) on one octahedral position and one U on t he other, leading to the formula Sr2(Sr2/3U1/3)UO6. Its thermal stabil ity has been determined, and its relation with other perovskite-type s tructures is discussed. (C) 1994 Academic Press, Inc.
