Abstract
Two ''vector'' models have been developed for computing the combined e fficiency when two mechanisms diffusion and sedimentation are operatin g simultaneously. Models currently used in lung deposition modeling ca n be derived from the asymptotic forms of the models. It is shown that the models bracket the experimental data and provide an explanation f or total efficiencies less than the larger of the components.
