Bf. Blackwell et Re. Hogan, ONE-DIMENSIONAL ABLATION USING LANDAU TRANSFORMATION AND FINITE CONTROL-VOLUME PROCEDURE, Journal of thermophysics and heat transfer, 8(2), 1994, pp. 282-287
A technique utilizing the Landau transformation has been developed to
solve one-dimensional variable area ablation problems. It is based on
applying the integral form of the conservation equations to control vo
lumes that are moving with velocities consistent with the Landau trans
formation. Exponential temperature profiles are assumed to evaluate th
e conduction and convection fluxes at control volume faces. The techni
que has been applied to one-dimensional planar and cylindrical geometr
ies with sample calculations presented to verify the accuracy of the m
ethod.
