The surgical management of ventrally located intraspinal tumours is of
ten difficult, particularly in the upper thoracic region. The anterior
approach to these tumours is hindered by anatomical structures. We re
port our experience using the trans-sternal approach. Three patients w
ith intraspinal tumour between T 1 and T 4 underwent this approach. Th
e surgical technique, the clinical presentation, the radiological feat
ures and the results are presented.
