Mi. Gomez et al., XANTHOMA DISSEMINATUM ASSOCIATED WITH HYPOCHOLESTEROLEMIA AND HYPOLIPOPROTEINEMIA, EJD. European journal of dermatology, 4(3), 1994, pp. 207-209
Xanthoma disseminatum is a rare form of non-X Histiocytosis, of which
fewer than 100 cases have been reported. It is considered a normolipid
emic xanthomatosis because of the absence of hyperlipidemia and lipopr
otein abnormalities in these patients. A 50-year-old man presented a 1
4-year history of multiple papules and nodules, yellow-brown colored,
mainly located on his face, neck and upper trunk. Histological and imm
unocytochemical findings confirmed the diagnosis of Xanthoma dissemina
tum. A lipidic examination revealed hypocholesterolemia and hypolipopr
oteinemia affecting both low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high densit
y lipoprotein (HDL).
