This article reviews three dramatic workplace changes and examines the
ir implications for employees and their families. The changes include
downsizing, diffusing information via computerized telecommunication t
echnologies, and increasing reliance on high-involvement team approach
es. It is proposed that these changes are related to workplace charact
eristics that impact families, including work stress, social support,
and occupational complexity. Conclusions focus on program and policy i
mplications of these work-family dynamics.
