A NEW CLASS OF ANTITUMOR AGENTS - CONJUGATES OF MDP AND ACRIDINE ACRIDONE DERIVATIVES

The synthesis of two types of conjugates of MDP and acridine/acridone derivatives has been described. In the first type of the conjugates (A ), the hydroxyl group at C6 of the muramyl moiety was acylated with ac ridine carboxy derivatives whereas the conjugates of the second type ( B) were formed by esterification of isoglutamine carboxyl group with h ydroxy derivatives of acridine. The results of the antitumor and anti- HIV assays for some of the conjugates are also presented.
