Abstract
In 1990, a task force investigated our wood from forest to process wit h the objective of developing a system to allow the optimization of th e allocation, flow, and quality of the annual pulp fiber supply. The r ecommended system was introduced in early 1991, and, although it is st ill not fully operational due to supplier constraints, substantial imp rovements in wood flow consistency, process control, and product quali ty have been realized. Additionally the existence of a wood segregatio n system allowed us to manage our way through a major change in our wo od supply mix over the past two years.
