Abstract
The K/Si(111)7 X 7 and K/Si(111)(square-root 3 x square-root 3)R30-deg rees-B interfaces are nonmetallic at room temperature saturation cover age. In contrast, the Cs/Si(111)7 X 7 interface metallizes below satur ation coverage. Possible mechanisms of electron localization in pre-me tallized films will be discussed. We conclude that electron correlatio n effects are important in determining the electronic properties of th ese interfaces.
