In this paper are reported recent calculations of very thin Co and Fe
films on Cu(001) and W(001) at T = 0 K. The Co monolayer on W(001) is
found to be paramagnetic, whereas multiple solutions for fcc-Fe/Cu(001
) are found. The magnetic moment distribution of small Co clusters on
Cu(001) is also determined. The use of the Hubbard tight-binding Hamil
tonian is discussed.
