Abstract
A method for conducting a preliminary evaluation of a meeting software system is described and illustrated. The method assesses the degree o f match between designer and user perspectives of a system by first de fining and then evaluating the system in terms of its (1) interface, ( 2) functionality, and (3) holistic attributes. Applying the method, we were able to identify some preliminary strengths and weaknesses of a specific meeting software system. The application of this method illus trates how general principles developed by Card, Moran, and Newell [4] , Silver [41], and others can be applied in a specific situation to as sess the match between designer and user views of new meeting software technologies.
