T. Takata et al., SEARCH AND REDSHIFT SURVEY FOR IRAS GALAXIES BEHIND THE NORTHERN MILKY-WAY, Astronomy & Astrophysics. Supplement series, 104(3), 1994, pp. 529-555
We made a search for IRAS galaxies behind the Northern Milky Way by in
frared selection using IRAS Point Source Catalog and visual inspection
on POSS (Palomar Observatory Sky Survey) paper prints, and carried ou
t a redshift survey of the identified objects. This paper presents a c
atalog of 649 IRAS galaxies with f60 greater-than-or-equal-to 0.6 Jy b
etween l = 150-degrees and 240-degrees at Absolute value of b less-tha
n-or-equal-to 15-degrees which contains 254 newly identified galaxies
and 188 newly measured radial velocities. Due to galactic extinction,
our sample is a lower limit sample of the flux limited sample of IRAS
galaxies, but it can give some information on the distribution of gala
xies in the region perpendicular to the Supergalactic Plane. We confir
m two regions with enhanced density at l approximately 160-degrees, cz
approximately 5000 km s-1 and l approximately 1900, cz approximately
5000 km s-1 and at least two possible voids.
