B. Caron et al., A PRELIMINARY-STUDY OF THE LOCKING OF AN INTERFEROMETER FOR GRAVITATIONAL-WAVE DETECTION, Astroparticle physics, 6(2), 1997, pp. 245-256
Large interferometers aiming at the detection of gravitational waves a
re under construction. They use multiple optical cavities and require
a coherent control of several mirror positions without spoiling the de
tector sensitivity. In the case of the VIRGO interferometer several so
lutions to this problem are currently under study inside the collabora
tion. In this paper we describe a preliminary study of one of these so
lutions. We discuss the sensitivity of the controlled interferometer a
nd present some tests done through a simulation of the apparatus. The
limitations of the presented solution are discussed.
