H. Ferkel et al., MOLECULE-SURFACE COLLISION-INDUCED DISSOCIATION OF INTERNALLY EXCITEDNO2 ON MGO (100), Chemical physics letters, 221(5-6), 1994, pp. 447-452
Collision-induced dissociation (CID) of highly excited NO2 in the mixe
d 2A1/B-2(2) electronic system has been observed for well characterize
d MgO(100) surfaces with parent and product angular resolution at vari
ous internal energies. NO state distributions were probed by two-photo
n, two-frequency ionization, and its yield was found to track the NO2
absorption spectrum, confirming the CID mechanism. The angular depende
nce of the NO state distribution indicates that CID occurs following d
irect inelastic scattering rather than trapping-desorption.
