Abstract
Benzocaine is an effective general anesthetic for fish. Its solubility was determined in waters of various hardness and pH and over a range of temperatures (from 5 to 30-degrees-C). Variations in water hardness and pH did not appreciably affect the solubility of benzocaine, where as increases in temperature increased solubility from 409 mg/L (at 5-d egrees-C) to 1,118 mg/L (at 30-degrees-C).
