[arachno-4,6-CSB-7H11], [cis-PtCl2(PMe2Ph)2] and base yield [9,9-(PMe2
Ph)2-arachno-9,6,8-PtCSB7H9] (1, 41%), identified by similarities to [
9,9-(PMe2Ph)2-arachno-9,6,8-PtC2B7Hl] (2, 52% from [arachno-4,6-C2B7H1
3], [Cis-PtCl2(PMe2Ph)2] and base). Thermolysis of 1 results in P-phen
yl ortho-cycloboronation to give [9,9-(PMe2Ph)(Me2P-ortho- 6H4)-arachn
o-9,6,8-PtCSB7H8-10] (3, 51%), rather than a cluster condensation of t
he {arachno-9,6,8-PtCSB7} unit.
