The nu1 isotropic Raman spectrum of H2S was studied in the dilute gas
phase and in the gas and liquid phases along the saturation line (282
less-than-or-equal-to T less-than-or-equal-to T(c) = 373.4 K). The tem
perature and density dependence of the band shift was analysed assumin
g a strong resonant transfer due to dipolar interactions. A significan
t rotational contribution prevents a precise study of the vibrational
effects on the asymmetric profile observed at rho < rho(c). A striking
critical inhomogeneous broadening is observed as the critical point i
s approached. Some new results on the nu2 isotropic and anisotropic ba
nds of liquid H2S are also presented.
