Abstract
The highly sensitive detection of molecular absorption in an external optical cavity is demonstrated. An effective absorption length of 5km is obtained with a high finesse (approximately 18000) cavity. A weak a bsorption (approximately 3 x 10(-5)) Of C2H2 at 1.064 mum is detected by using this cavity and a diode-laser-pumped Nd:YAG laser.
