THE NARRATIVE AND RHETORIC OF DREAMS - 6 LITERARY FRAGMENTS BY A NOVELIST

To study dreaming and storymaking as parallel creative acts, two fragm ents of a novel are presented along with four contemporaneous dreams b y the novelist. These six works show how Lacan's ideas about the langu age structure of the unconscious are particularly powerful in understa nding the function of narrative in resolving trauma and constructing p ersonal meaning.
