Abstract
Stage directors are involved in a process similar to psychotherapists. They empathize, stimulate emotional recall, deal with conflict, encou rage risk-taking, build confidence, establish a supportive environment , and create a sense of family. This paper presents a comparison of tw o processes-directing and treating-that rely on the skill of trusted f acilitators.
