D. Trap et al., DETECTION OF CHLAMYDIA-PSITTACI IN BIRDS - COMPARISON OF CLEARVIEW CHLAMYDIA TEST, IMMUNOFLUORESCENCE AND EMBRYONATED EGGS INOCULATION, Revue de Medecine Veterinaire, 145(4), 1994, pp. 261-266
The clearview Chlamydia test, the immunofluorescence and the embryonat
ed eggs culture (reference test) are evaluated for their ability to de
tect Chlamydiapsittaci in samples from 107 live or dead birds, with or
without clinical symptoms of chlamydiosis. In comparison with embryon
ated eggs inoculation, the clearview Chlamydia test (130 samples exami
ned) has a sensitivy of 81,6 % and a specificity of 80 %, immunofluore
scence (94 samples studied) has a sensitivity of 80,6 % and a specific
ity of 76,2 %. The advantages, the difficulties, the best conditions f
or these three tests and their limits are presented and discussed.
