Abstract
In this paper, we use real-life radar data to confirm that sea clutter is indeed the result of a chaotic dynamical system. This conclusion i s based on the following results: first, sea clutter has a finite corr elation dimension; second, the maximum Lyapunov exponent of sea clutte r is positive. More importantly, both components do not appear to chan ge much with sea state or with location.
